Crunch Announce Winners of U.S. Army High School 'Recruits of the Week'

Syracuse, NY (February 4, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today the winners of the U.S. Army High School 'Recruits of the Week' for the week ending February 3, 2008.

Throughout the 2007-08 season, the Crunch, along with the U.S. Army will present the U.S. Army 'Recruits of the Week' in Section III hockey. The 'Recruits of the Week' are high school hockey players in Section III who have been chosen for their outstanding play in that week's games.

Each week, winners will be chosen to represent each of the Section III hockey divisions (Division I, Division II - East and Division II - West).

The U.S. Army 'Recruits of the Week' for the week ending February 3 are:

Division I - Tommy Trowell (Auburn - Junior): Trowell shutdown the Liverpool Warriors on February 2 at Casey Park, leading the Maroons to a shutout victory (2-0) while making 38 saves.

Division II - West - James Cathers (Corcoran - Sophomore): Cathers lit the lamp three times helping push Corcoran past Ontario Bay by the score of 5-1 on January 29.

Division II - East (New Hartford - Senior): As a senior defenseman, Canarelli showed true leadership and his took on scoring responsibilities of his own (1g, 1a) as New Hartford sneaked past RFA by a 3-2 margin.

The Crunch's next game is Wednesday, February 6 as they travel to Rochester to take on the Americans. The Crunch's next home game is Saturday, February 15 vs. Binghamton at the War Memorial at Oncenter at 7:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Crunch office at (315) 473- 4444, stopping by the Oncenter Box Office, located on the State Street side of the War Memorial or by calling TicketMaster at (315) 472-0700.
