MNUFC to Face Houston Dynamo in Round of 16 of U.S. Open Cup

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Minnesota United today announced it will face Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium in the Round of 16 of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The game will take place on Tuesday, June 18 at 6:00 p.m. CT and will be streamed on ESPN+.

Two goals from midfielder Darwin Quintero and goals from forward Angelo Rodriguez and midfielder Ethan Finlay led MNUFC to a triumphant 4-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City in the Fourth Round on Wednesday, June 12. Along with a heap of goals, Minnesota United executed a tireless and effective high press that swallowed up the Sporting KC centerbacks and secured Minnesota a sport in the Round of 16.

The draw for the Round of 16 took place at U.S. Soccer headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, on Thursday morning, with the Loons being placed in the Midwest pool with Houston Dynamo, FC Dallas and New Mexico United (USL Championship).

The 2019 U.S. Open Cup is the 106th edition of the tournament, the longest ongoing soccer competition in the country, and features 84 teams from all levels of the U.S. Soccer pyramid from amateur sides up to MLS.
