San Antonio Missions News Release

SAN ANTONIO - Following back-to-back games in which they went to extra innings in a scoreless tie, the San Antonio Missions and Fresno Grizzlies flipped the offensive switch Sunday night at Wolff Stadium. The Grizzlies held off the Missions 11-10 in a back-and-forth affair.

After combining for six runs on 19 hits in the first two games of the series the Missions and Grizzlies erupted for a combined 21 runs on 30 hits Sunday night including eight extra-base hits.

The Grizzlies scored three runs in the eighth and one in the ninth to take an 11-9 lead into the bottom of the ninth. Jake Hager opened the frame with his second hit of the game and advanced to second a balk by Dakota Bacus. Blake Allemand recorded a productive out as he moved Hager along to third base and Nate Orf worked a walk. Tyrone Taylor lashed a single to left field to cut the lead in half but Bacus held tough on the mound to earn his ninth save of the campaign.

Fresno's Yadiel Hernandez swatted a pair of home runs to become the third Missions opponent to record a multi-homer game in 2019.

David Freitas was the offensive star for the Missions on the night. The catcher finished a triple shy of the cycle while scoring three runs and driving in two. Six different Missions tallied multi-hit games including Troy Stokes Jr. who tallied a season-high three hits. Freitas' three runs scored matched a season-high.

The Missions and Grizzlies conclude their four-game series against Monday morning at Wolff Stadium. Right-hander Corbin Burnes (0-0, 0.71) is scheduled to start for the Missions against right-hander Wil Crowe (0-1, 3.46) for the Grizzlies. First pitch is set for 11:05 a.m.
