Fresno Grizzlies News Release
San Antonio, Texas - The San Antonio Missions (71-43) mustered a 9-8 victory over the Fresno Grizzlies (54-60) Monday morning from Nelson Wolff Stadium. San Antonio won the four-game series despite each contest being a one-run affair. Angel Perdomo (3-0) relished the decision and Joan Baez (0-2) was tagged with the defeat. Newly-acquired flamethrower Ray Black picked up the save.
Fresno tallied 17 hits with seven players recording multi-hit games. Carter Kieboom led the barrage with three hits, including a two-run single in the second. That was apart of a six-run inning for the Grizzlies. Drew Ward, Wil Crowe, Raudy Read and Alec Keller all added a pair of hits as well. Ward smoked two doubles and had two RBI. Crowe, the Fresno hurler smacked his first Triple-A RBI and moved his average to .400 (4-for-10) since joining the squad. Read knotted the contest at eight in the eighth with a bloop single while Keller notched a pair of runs.
The Missions offense was highlighted by four homers. Tyrone Taylor started the carousel with a three-run missile in the third. He was followed by Troy Stokes Jr., Jacob Nottingham and Jake Hager, who all went deep in the fifth. Despite all the longballs, San Antonio needed one final dagger run, which happened in the eighth. David Freitas sharply singled in Tyler Saladino to put away the Grizzlies.
