TACOMA, WA - Tacoma Rainiers left-hander Anthony Misiewicz was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for July 29-August 4 for making back-to-back quality starts during the club's seven-game homestand, including an eight-inning hitless performance on Sunday, the PCL announced on Monday. This is the first time that Misiewicz has earned the award, and the second time during the 2019 campaign that he's made consecutive quality appearances.

In his first start of the week on July 30, the Michigan State product dealt six innings and allowed two runs (one earned), settling for a no-decision in Tacoma's 3-2 walk-off victory in 10 innings against the Omaha Storm Chasers. The lefty struck out eight, surrendering three hits and a walk in the effort, before combining with three relievers in the victory.

In the latter appearance, Misiewicz put only one Iowa Cubs hitter on-base over eight innings via a walk in the top of the fourth inning. The lefty's 10 strikeouts in the hitless performance were tied for the most in a single game during his career, and the most in his 13 Triple-A starts.

In the 5-0 victory, lefty Taylor Guilbeau allowed a lead-off double in the ninth inning, but stranded Iowa's potential first run at third to end the game, securing the shutout.

Misiewicz had allowed three or more earned runs and had not gone deeper than six innings over each of his previous nine starts before July 30. The 24-year-old lowered his ERA from 7.52 to 6.24 over the course of the week.

This marks the third time this year that a Tacoma pitcher has earned the honor. Lefty Tommy Milone was named PCL Pitcher of the Week after back-to-back scoreless starts on April 30 and May 5. Fellow southpaw Sean Nolin earned the award in the first week of July following a one-hit start across 7 1/3 frames in Fresno on July 5.

Oklahoma City Dodgers infielder Edwin Rios was named the PCL Player of the Week for July 1-7.

The Tacoma Rainiers hit the road for their penultimate road trip of the season beginning Wednesday in Oklahoma City against the Dodgers, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. First pitch of the series opener is set for 5:05 p.m. PDT and Mike Curto will have full coverage on South Sound Talk 850, with audio streaming available on the Rainiers TuneIn Radio Network.
