Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds continued a six-game homestand with a dominant 15-5 win over the Durham Bulls on Thursday night at AutoZone Park.

Memphis jumped on Durham pitching early and never let up. In the bottom of the first inning, the Redbirds brought 10 batters to the plate and scored four runs. Memphis went on to put up a crooked number in all five frames they scored.

On the night, each Redbirds batter either recorded a base hit or drove in two runs. Catcher Ivan Herrera put together a 3-for-5 day with a two-run home run, three RBI and a walk. Centerfielder Matt Koperniak drove in five runs, scored four times, stole two bases, drew a walk and hit a grand slam in a 3-for-5 effort of his own. The Redbirds stole five bases on the game for the second straight night, the second highest total of the season.

MLB Rehabber Jake Woodford made his third start of his assignment with Memphis. The right-handed pitcher tossed 3.0-plus innings, allowed one run on five hits and struck out three. Right fielder Dylan Carlson, also on an MLB Rehab Assignment, went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a run scored and a walk.

The Redbirds (34-26) return to AutoZone Park on Friday, June 9 to continue a six-game homestand at 7:05p.m. CDT against the Durham Bulls.
