Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release
The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders fell 5-3 to the International League leading Norfolk Tides. It was the first game of the series after two postponements due to air quality concerns.
The Tides got on the board first with two home runs in the fourth. Solo shots from Joey Ortiz and Hudson Haskin gave them a 2-0 lead.
In the fifth, the RailRiders tied it up at two apiece. Estevan Florial knocked a double for SWB's first hit of the contest. Oswald Peraza was hit by a pitch and the pair recorded a double steal to get into scoring position. Elijah Dunham beat the shift to record a pair of RBIs, sending both the runners in.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tacked one more on in the next frame. Jamie Westbrook led off with a base hit and moved to second on a wild pitch. Franchy Cordero smacked a line drive to drive in Westbrook for a 3-2 advantage.
Norfolk tied things up with an RBI single from former RailRider Jose Godoy in the eighth.
The visitors took the lead in the top of the ninth. Heston Kjerstad singled and raced home on Jordan Westburg's RBI triple. The Tides added an insurance run with Joey Ortiz's line drive for a 5-3 advantage.
