Jacksonville Icemen News Release

NORFOLK, VA - Michael McNiven stopped all 35 shots faced while John Albert scored twice as the Jacksonville Icemen defeated the Norfolk Admirals 3-0 at Scope Saturday evening. McNiven earns his third shutout of the season while the Icemen earn five of a possible six points on the week going 2-0-1-0 on the week.

Jacksonville opened the scoring with a goal from Charles-David Beaudoin. The Icemen were able to keep the puck in the Norfolk end after multiple failed clearing attempts. Everett Clark gained control of the puck at the center point where he shot the puck towards the net that trickled past Halverson to give Jacksonville a 1-0 lead.

Jacksonville added another goal to their lead courtesy of John Albert. Albert gained possession of the puck after Norfolk lost control skating into the Jacksonville zone. Albert skated into the Norfolk zone on a two-on-one and fired a shot that went over the glove of Halverson to put the Icemen up by 2.

Each team had great chances in the first frame, including the Admirals with an A+ chance right before the buzzer. Roman Ammirato skated in on a breakaway but was turned aside by goaltender Michael McNiven. Norfolk would have another quality chance from Charlie O'Connor on the penalty kill on a breakaway where O'Connor skated in and shot the puck forehand but was turned aside by McNiven.

Jacksonville added a late empty net goal by John Albert and won the game by a 3-0 final score.

The Icemen will return home and get set for a home match-up on Wednesday against the Florida Everblades. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. Fans can catch all game broadcasts at www.mixlr.com/jaxicemen or watch the game online at ECHL.TV
