INDEPENDENCE, MO - The Missouri Mavericks closed their weekend series against the visiting Indy Fuel on Saturday night with a 4-2 victory at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena, maintaining a perfect home record, and improving to an eleven-game win streak- the longest active streak in the ECHL. The Mavericks bested the Fuel on Friday evening by the same score.

The Mavericks now 16-2-0-1 record is their best start in franchise history. Missouri leads the ECHL with thirty-three (33) points.

Tyler Barnes scored first for Missouri, notching his tenth goal of the season for the Mavs, with the help ofCarter Verhaeghe and Patrick Cullity at 3:39 of the opening period. The Fuel's Cody Sharib answered back with not one, but two goals within two minutes of each other to give Indy their first lead of the weekend. Sharib's first tally came at 7:12, assisted by Walker Wintoneak and Kevin Quick, followed by another goal at 9:05 aided by Quick and Kyle Stroh.

The Mavericks trailed 2-1 entering the second period, and held a high-intensity contest with the Fuel through the first half of the frame until the spark ignited and Jesse Root evened the scoreboard 2-2 at 15:03 with the help of Chris Owens. The home crowd had barely recovered from their excitement at Root's twelfth goal of the season when rookie defenseman Owens scored for a 3-2 Mavericks game only thirty-eight (38) seconds later. Barnes and Verhaeghe assisted on the play that landed Owens' his first goal of the season.

The Mavs and Fuel continued to throw everything they had on the ice, neither relenting in the one-goal game. Then Carter Verhaeghe lit the lamp at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena for the third time in three (3) games, scoring unassisted at 7:05p.m.

Indy pulled former Mavericks net-minder, Shane Owen, from the crease in favor of an extra attacker in the final two (2) minutes of regulation, but were unable to cut into the Missouri lead, fating the Fuel to their fourth straight loss.

The Mavericks play their next game on the road Sunday, Nov. 29 at 4:05p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers at the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK.

The league-leading team will return home to face the Wichita Thunder on Saturday, Dec. 5 for Teddy Bear Toss Night! The Mavs will also be wearing specialty jerseys to commemorate fifty years of hockey history in Kansas City on Saturday evening. The jerseys will be auctioned off in a live auction directly following the game in sections 101 and 102. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Community Services League.
