Last Night

Sam Warning scored two goals and Steve Michalek made 34 saves as the host Mallards defeated the Kalamazoo Wings 3-1.

Top Dogs

The second place Mallards enter tonight two points behind the Midwest Division-leading Cyclones and can move into a first place tie with Cincinnati by winning this evening's game in regulation. The Cyclones have three games in hand on the Mallards.

Busy

The Mallards are in the midst of a stretch of seven games in ten days and eight games in 12 days. Tonight's game is the second of three in three nights for the Mallards. The Mallards are playing three times in 48 hours for the second successive weekend.

Home Sweet Home

The Mallards have won six straight home games and are unbeaten in regulation (8-0-1) in nine home games since dropping their home opener October 23 against Tulsa. Their current home winning streak is the Mallards' longest since they won eight straight Central Hockey League games at home between March 3 and March 24, 2013. Their current home regulation unbeaten streak is the Mallards' longest since they went 11 straight United Hockey League home games (9-0-2) without a regulation defeat between February 2 and March 10, 2007.

The Mallards are tied with the Cyclones for most home wins (8) in the ECHL.

The Mallards have allowed just five goals in their last four home games.

Rough Road

The Mallards have suffered five straight road losses and have gone winless (0-6-2) in eight road games since winning their season opener in Allen October 16. The Mallards last dropped five in a row in regulation on the road when they lost five straight International Hockey League away games between March 19 and April 3, 2010. The Mallards last went winless in eight straight road games (0-4-4) between November 9 and December 5 last year.

First Blood

The Mallards last night scored three unanswered goals after falling behind 1-0 and have now given up the first goal in six of their last seven games. On the season they are 4-6-2 when allowing the first goal and 5-1-1 when opening the scoring.

Steve Michalek made 34 saves last night on the way to his third straight win. Michalek has stopped 100 of 104 shots to post a 1.34 goals against average and a .962 save percentage over those three games. Michalek is now tied for eighth in the ECHL in save percentage (.928).

Rookie Warning has scored three times in his last three games after going without a goal in his first 11 games.

Ryan Tesink's first goal for the Mallards was last night's game winner.

Double Dip

Guillaume Gelinas picked up two assists last night and is now tied for fifth among ECHL defensemen in points (12).

Leaders of the Pack

Olivier Archambault is tied for third in the ECHL in assists (13) and tied for eighth in points (18). Mike Monfredo ranks second among ECHL defensemen in assists (12), is tied for ninth overall in assists and is third among defensemen in points (14).

Special Teams

The Mallards have gone just 2-for-19 on the power play over their last seven games but still rank fifth in the ECHL on the man advantage (21.2 percent). They are twenty-second in the ECHL in penalty killing (81.3 percent).

Head to Head

The Mallards began their 11-game season series against the Cyclones with a 3-1 loss on November 13 in Cincinnati. Tonight's game is the first of six between the Mallards and Cyclones at the iWireless Center. The Mallards, who suffered a pair of home losses to Cincinnati last season, are 0-3-0 all-time against the Cyclones.
