Game Notes: 11-28 vs Quad City

Overview: The Cyclones wrap up their two-game road trip on Saturday night against the Quad City Mallards. The two sit atop the Midwest Division standings, and are separated by just two points. These two will meet again in three days time, when the Mallards come to Cincinnati to wrap up the home-and-home series.

Thursday Recap: The Cincinnati Cyclones (10-3-2-1) collected a 5-1 win over the Fort Wayne Komets on Thursday night. Forwards Jack Downing, Christiaan Minella, Zach Budish, Peter Quenneville, and Nick Huard netted the goals for the Cyclones, who avenged their 3-2 overtime loss to the Komets from Wednesday. The Cyclones were outshot, 34-21, on the night, while the power play converted on one of its three chances. Cyclones goaltender Brandon Whitney was big in net for Cincinnati, stopping 33 of the 34 shots he faced to collect the win.

Wednesday Recap: The Cincinnati Cyclones (9-3-2-1) fell to the Ft. Wayne Komets, 3-2, in overtime on Wednesday night. Forwards Jack Downing and Joe Pendenza scored the goals for the Cyclones. The Cyclones outshot Ft. Wayne, 29-27, while the power play converted on one of its four chances.

Saturday Recap: The Cincinnati Cyclones (9-3-1-1) earned a 4-3 shootout win over the Orlando Solar Bears on Saturday night. Forwards Joe Wilson, Branden Gracel, and Jack Downing netted the goals in regulation for the Cyclones, who earn their first overtime or shootout win of the season. Cincinnati was outshot, 27-24 on the night, while the power play was held scoreless on all three attempts.

Previewing Quad City: The Mallards enter Saturday two points behind the Cyclones for first place in the ECHL's Midwest Division. Quad City is coming off of a 3-1 win over the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday night, and have won four of their last six games overall, outscoring their opponents 11-5 in their four wins. They are led by Oliver Archambault, who has accounted for five goals and 13 assists this season. He is followed by Matt Neal (7g, 8a), and defenseman Mike Monfredo (2g, 12a).

Inside the Series: This is the second of 11 meetings between the two sides, with the Cyclones winning the first meeting back on November 13, 3-1. The Cyclones and Mallards have met just three times all-time, with Cincinnati having won all three of the previous meetings.
