November 28, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Reading, PA - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced forward Brian Hart has been reassigned to the AHL's Syracuse Crunch by the Tampa Bay Lightning, while forward Darian Dziurzynski has been loaned to the AHL's Binghamton Senators.
Hart, 22, signed a three-year, two-way NHL contract with the Lightning on June 28, 2015 and was initially loaned to Greenville on October 22. In 15 games with the Swamp Rabbits, he recorded seven points (6g, 1a) and two penalty minutes. Hart also played three games with Syracuse during his latest call-up from November 17 through November 23, including his AHL debut on November 18 against Portland.
Prior to turning pro, the Cumberland, Maine native played three seasons at Harvard University from 2012-15. In 98 career games, Hart recorded 18 goals and 32 assists for 50 points. He ranked sixth on the Crimson last season with a career-best seven goals and tied for seventh in points (17).
The 6'3, 212-pound forward was selected in the second round, #53 overall, by Tampa Bay in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Dziurzynski (pronounced: z'yuhr-ZIHN-skee) was acquired by the Swamp Rabbits on November 12 in a trade with the Tulsa Oilers. The 24-year-old was initially signed to a two-year, entry-level contract by the Arizona Coyotes on March 8, 2013, and spent each of the last three seasons with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League (AHL). In 181 career games with the Pirates, he displayed skill (26g, 17a, 43 pts) and toughness (321 penalty minutes), and led the club with 183 penalty minutes during the 2013-14 campaign.
A native of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Dziurzynski began this season, his first in the ECHL, by collecting four points (2g, 2a) and 16 penalty minutes in eight games with Tulsa. He added six points (1g, 5a), 13 penalty minutes and a +8 rating in just seven games with Greenville, including his first goal with the club last night against Reading.
Prior to turning pro, the 6'1 204-pound forward played five seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Saskatoon Blades and Brandon Wheat Kings from 2007-12. He amassed 161 points (92g, 69a) and 505 penalty minutes in 304 major-junior contests. In addition, Dziurzynski played alongside current Swamp Rabbits' forward Josh Nicholls for three seasons with Saskatoon.
Dziurzynski was originally selected by Arizona in the fifth round (141st overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Teddy Time: The Swamp Rabbits will host their sixth annual "Teddy Bear Toss" Night presented by Bon Secours St. Francis Health System on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The annual tradition encourages fans to bring stuffed animals to the game and throw them onto SANDLAPPER Securities Rink when Greenville scores its first goal. The stuffed animals are then collected and donated to Toys for Tots. Last season, more than 2,500 stuffed animals were collected and donated. In addition, the Swamp Rabbits invite local elementary school choirs to perform Christmas Carols at the game for the Sing for Santa event! Each elementary school that participates can sing the National Anthem for the start of our game and then perform Christmas Carols during the first intermission. Click here for tickets.
