Mavericks Acquire Karlsson and Vance from Steelheads; Missouri Trades Martin Lee to Idaho
March 12, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kansas City Mavericks News Release
INDEPENDENCE, MO (March 12, 2015)- The Missouri Mavericks announced Thursday afternoon that they have traded for three players from the Idaho Steelheads (ECHL) in exchange for defenseman Martin Lee.
The Mavericks acquired forward Troy Vance, Ludwig Karlsson, and one player for future considerations to be decided at the end of the 2014-15 season.
"Vance and Karlsson have both been reassigned to us by the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League," said Richard Matvichuk, Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations for the Missouri Mavericks.
"Vance is a big kid with great size for a defenseman and a Dallas Stars draft pick on top of that," said Matvichuk. "Karlsson has proven himself on the ice this season and we're ready to see what he can do here in Missouri in a Mavs sweater."
Troy Vance, a 6'5" 220lb defenseman from Goshen, New York was a fifth round draft pick by the Dallas Stars in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Vance put up 2 goals, 8 assists, and 15 penalty minutes through 47 games with the Steelheads this season.
Ludwig Karlsson is a twenty-four year old forward from Stockholm, Sweden in his second pro season. Karlsson tallied 9 goals, 12 assists and 16 penalty minutes through 44 games for the Steelheads this season.
The Missouri Mavericks play their next game at home on Friday, Mar. 13 at Independence Events Center against the Brampton Beast. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm (CST). The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a trading card giveaway set featuring the Missouri Mavericks mascot, Mac! Doors open at 5:30pm (CST).
