Dieude-Fauvel, Perry Return to Mallards; Rioux Back to Iowa

March 12, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL) - Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (March 12, 2015) - Defenseman Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel and forward Joe Perry have returned to the Quad City Mallards from the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild while defenseman Nicholas Rioux has signed a professional tryout agreement with the Wild, the Mallards announced today.

Dieude-Fauvel signed a P.T.O. with the Wild in December and notched an assist in 15 AHL games before a lower body injury forced him out of the lineup in January.

Perry joined Iowa on February 5 and picked up an assist in six games with the Wild before being sidelined by an upper body injury later last month.

Rioux makes his second trip to Iowa this week and fourth this season. He joined the Wild on Tuesday before returning to the Quad Cities in time to score the overtime game winner in the Mallards' 3-2 victory over the Missouri Mavericks last night. His is the thirteenth trip to the AHL by a Mallard this season.

Dieude-Fauvel, 28, scored four goals, added three assists and registered a plus/minus rating of +2 while playing in the Mallards' first 22 games this season. The 6' 2", 220-pound Bordeaux, France, native last season set career highs in goals (11), assists (29) and points (40) while finishing seventh among Central Hockey League defensemen in each of those categories. He likewise established a career best in plus/minus (+17) while playing in all but one of the Mallards' 66 games last year.

In May, Dieude-Fauvel capped off his banner 2013-14 campaign by representing France at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship in Belarus as Les Bleus advanced to the quarterfinals for the first time since 1995.

Over six years in North America, Dieude-Fauvel has produced 37 goals and 122 points in 318 games.

He reunited with Mallards coach Terry Ruskowski last season after first playing for Ruskowski in 2009-10 and 2010-11 with the CHL's Laredo Bucks.

From the Bucks, Dieude-Fauvel moved on to spend two seasons with the ECHL's Elmira Jackals.

At the time of his call-up, Perry, 25, was tied for eighth in the ECHL in goals (20), tied for second among ECHL rookies in goal-scoring and tied for fifth among rookies in points (36). Perry, who played in each of the Mallards' first 42 games, also boasts a plus/minus rating of +8.

Perry first joined the Mallards last March and made his professional debut in the CHL President's Cup playoffs. The 6' 2", 215-pound Nanaimo, British Columbia native skated in the first two games of the Mallards' opening round series against the Rapid City Rush before injury ended his season.

Just before arriving in the Quad Cites last spring, Perry led Division III powerhouse St. Norbert College to its third national title in his four years as a Green Knight. He was named to the American Hockey Coaches Association Division III All-American first team after finishing last season tied for first in the nation with 24 goals and totaling 37 points in 32 games. Perry earned 2014 NCAA tournament Most Valuable Player honors by scoring five goals and adding two assists in three tournament games. He scored 50 times and recorded 106 points in 115 career collegiate games.

Rioux has played three games for the Wild this season after skating in eight games for Iowa last year. The 6' 1", 205-pound Riviere-du-Loup, Quebec, product has scored four goals and added 19 assists for 23 points while recording a plus/minus rating of +8 in 54 games with the Mallards this season.
