Martin Houle Signs PTO with Peoria

Peoria, Ill. (October 31, 2008) - General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald has announced that the Peoria Rivermen have signed goaltender Martin Houle to a professional try-out contract.

Houle, 23, has spent the better part of his first three professional seasons in the American Hockey League as a member of the Philadelphia Phantoms. Originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the eighth round of the 2004 Entry Draft, Houle has appeared in 87 career AHL games and has posted a 32-39-3 record. He has also appeared in one NHL game with Philadelphia on Dec. 13, 2006.

This season with the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL), Houle appeared in three games and posted a 1-2-0 record with a 3.03 goals-against average.

Peoria returns to action TONIGHT as they welcome the Quad City Flames to town. It's Halloween and fans are encouraged to dress in costume for the game. Any fan in costume will receive two (2) FREE tickets to an upcoming Rivermen home game.
