Florida Panthers Reassign C Shawn Matthias

SUNRISE, FL - Florida Panthers General Manager Jacques Martin announced today that the team has reassigned C Shawn Matthias to the Rochester Americans (AHL).

Matthias, 20, received 7:21 of ice time in last night's 2-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators. He appeared in five preseason games with the Panthers scoring one goal with one assist and four PIM.

The Mississauga, Ontario native made his NHL debut last year with Florida, playing in four games and scoring two goals. Matthias has played in eight games for the Americans this year scoring one goal with one assist and two PIM.

The Panthers begin a two-game road trip tomorrow night when they travel to Nashville to play the Predators at 8 p.m., followed by a Sunday matinee in Atlanta at 5 p.m.
