Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs managed to hold onto a one goal lead in the third period to defeat the Lake Erie Monsters 3-2 in front of 2,498 fans at Copps Coliseum. Ryan White recorded the game-winning goal while Marc Denis made 29 stops for his sixth win of the season.

Ben Maxwell opened the scoring for the second time in as many games at 7:34 of the opening period. Pacioretty sent the puck to Maxwell who beat a Monsters defender before backhanding a shot high and over the glove of Lake Erie starting goaltender Jason Bacashihua. Mike Glumac added the Bulldogs second marker of the period at 12:21 while on the power play. Mathieu Carle carried the puck into the Monsters' zone before feeding a pass to Glumac, who was all alone in front of the Lake Erie net. Glumac fired a shot past the blocker of Bacashihua for his fourth goal of the campaign. The assist was Carle's second of the game.

Lake Erie cut the lead in half at 16:28 of the first frame on a goal by T.J. Hensick. Nigel Williams blasted a shot on net that Hamilton starting goaltender Marc Denis was able to save. Hensick scooped up the loose rebound and banked it off the back of Denis' pad to make it a 2-1 game.

Monsters' Captain Brian Willsie received a pass from Jesse Boulerice that sprung him on a breakaway. Willsie snapped a shot towards the glove of Denis but the puck ended up ringing off the post and deflecting into the back of the net at 17:00 of the second stanza.

The Bulldogs regained the lead at 9:27 of the final frame when White potted his second goal of the season. Bacashihua stopped the initial shot but allowed a rebound that White grabbed and backhanded over the sprawling netminder.
