October 31, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Springfield Falcons News Release

The night didn't start out like it ended for the Falcons as Lowell's Vladimir Zharkov opened the scoring at 2:10 of the first period giving the Devils an early 1-0 advantage. Following Zharkov's marker, Lowell ended up on a five-on-three power play, but the Falcons penalty killers were solid holding Lowell to zero shots on the two-man advantage.

Springfield's Bryan Lerg tied the score at 1-1 at 18:37 of the opening frame netting his first AHL goal in his second game this season. Lerg led the Falcons in goals in the preseason with three, and he was recently recalled from Springfield's ECHL affiliate, the Stockton Thunder, where he registered two goals in four games.

In the second period, the Falcons penalty killers were outstanding again as Liam Reddox scored a shorthanded marker at 3:47 assisted by Tim Sestito giving the Falcons their first lead of the night at 2-1.

The Falcoms took control of the game in the third period as Ryan Potulny added a power play goal at 14:10 of the third period, followed by Reddox adding his second marker of the contest at 15:50 giving the Falcons a 4-1 advantage.

Goaltender Devan Dubnyk earned the win in goal stopping 18 of 19 shots.
