Falcons Host Devils Tonight

The Springfield Falcons play the second of three straight contests against the Lowell Devils when they faceoff at the MassMutual Center on Friday night. These two Atlantic Division rivals met just six days ago at The Nest with Lowell beating the Falcons by a score of 4-2. Geoff Paukovich gave Springfield an early 1-0 lead in that contest before the Devils scored four straight markers taking a 4-1 lead into the third period. Pascal Rheaume, Nicklas Bergfors, Matthew Corrente, and Matt Halischuk all scored for Lowell in the win, while Liam Reddox also converted for the Falcons. Springfield will head to Lowell on Saturday concluding the home-and-home series this weekend.

The Falcons head into Friday's action with a record of 3-3-1-0 through seven games good for seven points and fifth place in the Atlantic Division standings. Springfield has won two of their last three games and they conclude a three-game homestand tonight. Starting on Saturday night, the Falcons will begin a four-game road swing with stops in Lowell, Portland, Hartford and Worcester.

The Devils head into Springfield on a two-game winning streak having defeated the Manchester Monarchs by a score of 4-3 in a shootout on Wednesday night. Lowell battled back from an early 2-0 deficit in that contest receiving goals in regulation from Ryan Murphy, Michael Swift, and Brad Snetsinger. Snetsinger, Chad Wiseman and Patrick Davis all converted in the shootout, while goaltender Scott Clemmensen stopped 35 of 38 shots on goal.

FALCONS PLAYER NOTES:

Liam Reddox scored in each of the Falcons' two games last weekend giving him two goals and three assists for five points in seven games this year. Reddox is currently on a three-game scoring streak. Reddox led all Falcons rookies in scoring last year with 16 goals and 28 assists for 44 points in 65 games. He also made his NHL debut on December 7, 2007 as a member of the Edmonton Oilers against the St. Louis Blues.

Left wing Stephane Goulet collected his first multi-point game of the season on October 25 when he collected two assists. Goulet has one goal and two assists in his last three games played.

Ryan Potulny recorded his second two-goal game of the season when scored a pair of goals in the Falcons' 3-2 win on Friday, October 24 over Albany. Potulny leads the Falcons in goals with five markers in seven games on the young season.

Geoff Paukovich netted his first AHL goal on October 25 against the Lowell Devils earning the game's third star.

Rob Schremp collected a pair of assists in the Falcons' 3-2 win on October 24 earning the game's second star. Schremp has collected at least a point in four of the five games he has played this season.

Goaltender Devan Dubnyk has started all seven of Springfield's games this season and he stopped 25 of 27 shots in the Falcons' 3-2 win over Albany on October 24.

The Falcons penalty killing unit has successfully defended 16 of their last 17 shorthanded situations for a success rate of 94% in that span.

LOWELL DEVILS PLAYER NOTES: The New Jersey Devils recalled forwards Nicklas Bergfors and Matt Halischuk from Lowell (AHL) under emergency conditions, on Tuesday, October 28. Bergfors was returned on October 31 rejoining Lowell.

Halischuk, 20, has five goals and three assists, including a four-goal contest, in six games this season with the Devils' AHL affiliate. Taken with the Devils' fourth choice, 117th overall in the 2007 Entry Draft, the Toronto native netted the gold medal-clinching overtime goal for Team Canada at the 2008 World Junior Championships.

Bergfors, 21, has two goals and six assists for eight points in six games. He notched AHL career highs across the board in 2005-06 with 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points with Albany. The native of Sodertalje, Sweden, was selected with New Jersey's first choice, 23rd overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft.

Right wing Barry Tallackson has been assigned to Lowell for conditioning. Tallackson underwent successful minor corrective heart surgery on Sept. 26.
