Binghamton Senators News Release

Binghamton, NY - Tim Jackman scored the game-clinching and winning goals, both coming on the power-play, to lead the Sound Tigers to a 4-2 victory over the Binghamton Senators. Andrew MacDonald and Kurtis McLean tallied the other two goals for the Sound Tigers while Peter Mannino stopped 31 shots to earn his third win of the season. Darien, CT native Ryan Shannon and Zack Smith scored for Binghamton.

MacDonald opened the scoring for the Sound Tigers 8:48 into the opening period. The rookie defenseman led a breakout from the Sound Tigers' zone and left the puck at the Senators' blue-line for Rob Hennigar. MacDonald slowed up as he entered the zone from the right wing boards and Hennigar sent the puck back to him, leaving him in alone on Binghamton starting goalie Brian Elliott. MacDonald snapped a shot towards the back post that Elliott got a piece of but the puck trickled in behind him, giving the Sound Tigers the 1-0 lead. Sean Bentivoglio also had an assist on MacDonald's third goal of the season. With about three minutes left in the first and the Sound Tigers killing a penalty, McLean scored the team's first short-handed goal of the season, his third tally of the season. The Sound Tigers were able to clear the puck out of their zone and Elliott came out of his net to settle the puck in the right corner. With McLean pressuring, Elliott tried to rim the puck behind his goal but misplayed the clearing attempt and put it off the side of his cage. McLean came in and easily grabbed the puck and deposited it into the empty net for the Sound Tigers 2-0 lead.

The Senators would cut the Sound Tigers' lead in half 2:48 into the middle frame when Shannon scored his fourth goal of the season while Binghamton was on the power-play. Ilya Zubov set the play up in the Sound Tigers' zone, feeding Brendan Bell at the left point. Bell sent a pass to Shannon at the top of the right circle where he took the puck and wristed it through a screen, making the score 2-1. About four minutes later, the Senators would even the score at two when Smith scored his team leading sixth marker of the season, unassisted. The Sound Tigers would go on a 5-on-3 man-advantage with just over two minutes left in the period. Jackman would continue his hot streak, burying his first goal of the game to give the Sound Tigers the 3-2 lead with just 19 seconds remaining in the second. Jack Hillen carried the puck deep into Binghamton's zone and saucered a quick pass to Jackman in the slot where he one-timed the puck over Elliott's glove. The tally gives Jackman a goal in each of the last three games.

Jackman would score his second of the contest and fifth of the season 1:40 into the third period while the Sound Tigers were on the power-play. Jackman took a pass from Blake Comeau in the left circle and walked out from the corner chipping the puck over Elliott's right shoulder and under the cross-bar to finish the scoring at 4-2 in favor of the Sound Tigers. Chris Lee also assisted on the goal to pick up his first point as a Sound Tiger.

Mannino earned his third win of the season, turning away 31 shots while his counter-part, Elliott had 34 saves. The Sound Tigers were 2-for-5 on the power-play and went 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
