Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV - Nathan Marsters made 50 saves in his debut with Wheeling to propel the Nailers to a 3-2 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones Saturday night at WesBanco Arena. David Laliberte and Ned Havern each had two point nights as Laliberte's goal broke a 2-2 tie in the third period.

Marsters, acquired off waivers on Thursday from Augusta, stole the show setting a new team mark by stopping all 22 shots he faced in the third period.

The Cyclones registered the first goal 13:47 into the first period when Barret Ehgoetz and Matt Syrocznski connected with Jean-Michel Daoust to slap one past the Marsters.

The Nailers retaliated with a Ned Havern goal from Jon D'Aversa and David Lalilberte at 18:33 of the first. As D'Aversa walked in from the blue line, he slipped one to Havern for the redirect notching his team leading ninth goal of the season.

Aaron Clarke gave the Nailers a 2-1 lead at 3:22 of the second period when he snuck one passed goalie Maxime Daigneault. Ned Havern and Kevin Croxton were credited with assists when Croxton put a pass into the skates of Clarke at the top of the crease for his third of the year.

The Cyclones evened it up at 15:02 with a Travis Fuller goal. Thomas Beauregard slid a pass to Fuller waiting on the backdoor to tie the game.

Headed to the third period tied at two for the second night in a row, Wheeling notched the game winner with a little help from the Cyclones. Lalilberte's slap shot from the blue line, tipped off a defenders skate and past Daigneault 4:43 into the third. Sean Collins picked up his 20th assist of the year on the play.

Marsters made it stand up keeping Cincinnati off the board on all seven of their power plays. Wheeling was 0-for-4.

The Nailers take the ice on Sunday against the Dayton Bombers at 6:05pm. Kids tickets are only $5 all December long. Fans are invited to bring their skates and gloves and join the Nailers and Santa for a postgame skate. Call 304-234-GOAL or visit www.wheelingnailers.com to place a ticket order.
