Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
WHEELING, West Virginia - David Laliberte's eighth goal of the season broke a 2-2 deadlock in the third period and gave Wheeling a 3-2 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones. It was the twelfth loss in the last 14 games at WesBanco Arena for Cincinnati.
The Cyclones opened the scoring for the eleventh time in the last 14 games, at 13:47. Right wing Jean-Michel Daoust skated through the right side faceoff circle and fired a rising shot over the right shoulder of netmind Nathan Marsters for his 15th goal of the year. It was the third straight game Daoust netted a goal. Matt Syroczynski and Barret Ehgoetz added the assists. Third year forward Ned Havern collected his ninth goal of the season on a backdoor feed from Jon D'Aversa to level the scores at 1-1 at the end of the period.
In the second period, the Nailers took their first lead of the night when Aaron Clarke picked up his third score of the season, 3:22 into the frame on the power play. Cincinnati knotted the game at 2-2, when rookie Travis Fuller collected his sixth goal of the season. Fuller took a pass from behind the net from Andrew Martin at the far post and deposited the puck into the vacant net.
Wheeling secured the win with the lone goal of the third period, coming rom David Laliberte, his eighth of the season at 4:43. Nathan Marsters picked up the win in his Wheeling debut, stopping 50 shots. Maxime Daigneault took the defeat, turning aside 24 shots.
The Cyclones are 16-6-2, while Wheeling is 9-13-2. Cincinnati's seven game unbeaten string (6-0-1) comes to an end, while the win snaps the Nailers nine game winless skid (0-8-1). The Cyclones host Johnstown on Sunday at 5pm at U.S. Bank Arena.
