
Bayrack Returns To Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - General manager and head coach of the Charlotte Checkers, Derek Wilkinson, announced today that the team has signed forward, Mike Bayrack. Also, goaltender, Curtis Darling has been returned on loan from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.
Bayrack, 5-foot-11, 205-pounds, last played in Charlotte during the 2005-06 season where he totaled 52 points (27 goals, 25 assists) in 62 games. The Edmonton, Alberta native last suited up in the ECHL during the previous season for the Texas Wildcatters where he generated 78 points (33 goals, 45 assists) in 66 games.
Darling, 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, hails from Calgary, Alberta. In four games this season with the Checkers, he has a record 1-2 holding a 2.20 goals against average with a .915 save percentage with one shutout. He played in one game for Syracuse totaling four saves in fifteen minutes coming in the game from the bench.
Wilkinson also announced that Checkers defenseman Kirk Dewaele has been moved to the seven-day injured reserve.
The Checkers began their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game takes place on Dec. 15 against the Columbia Inferno. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
