Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Kevin Schaeffer ["SHAY fuhr"] has been loaned to the Providence Bruins of the AHL. Schaeffer (6'1"/200) (23), a first year pro from South Huntington, New York, has scored two goals, assisted on five others, and picked up twenty-one penalty minutes in nineteen games with the Royals. A sixth round pick of the Nashville Predators in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Schaeffer has played to a 'plus' in six consecutive games (through December 14, 2007) for the Royals (+11) and currently leads Reading in the plus-minus category at +13. This marks the first AHL call up for Schaeffer, who played his college hockey at Boston University.

The Royals return to action tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey, where they will play the Trenton Devils. Game time is 4:00 pm and the game day broadcast will begin at 3:30 pm with the pre-game warm-up show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Ephrata, as well as on the internet through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com. Streaming video is available on a pay per view basis through the B2 Networks.
