
Wranglers Extend Streak To 17, Win Wild One in Utah 7-5

West Valley, UT - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (19-2-2, 40 Points) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (11-11-3, 25 Points) 7-5 at the E-Center on Saturday night. Center Chris Ferraro scored two goals and added three assists for five points, tying the team record for most points in one game. Ferraro's first-period goal marked his 600th career point. Winger Aki Seitsonen scored twice, while Ryan Donally, Josh Sciba and defenseman Aaron Power also scored in the victory. Right wing Peter Ferarro tied a team record with four assists, as Las Vegas moved to 15-0-2 in the last 17 games. Defenseman Tyson Strachan registered a career-high three assists. Utah's Justin Bourne registered a hat trick in the defeat. Las Vegas returns home for the annual midnight game at 11:59 pm on Monday against the Phoenix RoadRunners at the Orleans Arena.
In the first period, Utah tallied the opening goal for the 1-0 lead at 8:40. With the Grizzlies enjoying a power play, forward Justin Bourne tipped in a rebound for his sixth goal of the season. Las Vegas countered to tie the game at one as Aki Seitsonen scored a shorthanded goal at 9:47. Wranglers' defenseman Tyson Strachan assisted on Seitsonen's second goal of the season. The Grizzllies regained the lead with their second power-play goal of the period. Utah's Scott Burt tallied his 12th goal of the season at the 13:00 marker, giving Utah a 2-1 lead. Las Vegas tied the game at two at 16:25 as center Chris Ferraro scored his seventh goal of the season. The goal was Ferraro's 600th career point.
In the second period, winger Josh Sciba backhanded in his fourth goal of the season at 7:47, giving Las Vegas a 3-2 lead. Utah's Justin Bourne scored his second goal of the night and seventh of the season at 8:59, tying the game 3-3. Las Vegas took a 4-3 lead with a power-play goal by Aaron Power at 12:51. Power's fourth goal of the season was set up by the Ferraro twins. Bourne completed the hat trick at 17:59, tying the game at four with his eighth goal of the season.
In the third period, Aki Seitsonen broke the tie with his second goal of the night at 12:18. Center Chris Ferraro set up Seitsonen's third goal of the season, giving the Wranglers a 5-4 lead. Ryan Donally added a power-play goal at 17:07 for the 6-4 Wranglers lead. Chris Ferraro tallied an empty-net goal at 18:47 for the 7-4 lead. Utah's Rob Sirianni registered a power-play goal with 13 seconds remaining for the 7-5 final.
The Wranglers host the fifth annual Midnight Holiday Roundup at 11:59 pm on Monday, December 17th against the Phoenix RoadRunners. The team will then travel to Boise to face the Idaho Steelheads for three straight games, starting Wednesday night at 6:10 pm at Qwest Arena.
