Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Troy, OH - The Johnstown Chiefs' struggles against the Ohio teams continued Saturday night, falling to the Dayton Bombers 8-3 at Hobart Arena.

The Bombers got a natural hat trick in the first period from Matt Beaudoin to take a 4-1 lead into the first intermission. Brandon Straub had tied the game at 1-1 with his second power play goal in as many games after Britt Dougherty beat Ryan Nie 3:37 into the game.

The Chiefs used a strong second period to trim a goal off of the Dayton lead.

Tyler Hirsch scored his first goal as a Chief just 18 seconds into the second period with a wicked wrist shot from the left wing. Taylor Chirstie would answer with Dayton's third power play goal of the game to reestablish the three-goal lead. Brian Deeth, though, would tally the Chiefs' third goal, beating Jeremy Duchesne with a wrister from the right wing boards.

The Chiefs were unable to build on the momentum from the second period, though, as the Bombers would put up three third period goals to set the final score. Masahito Nishiwaki, Chanse Fitzpatrick, and Mike Berry all scored for Dayton.

Ryan Nie finished with 26 saves against 34 shots and the Chiefs power play went 1-for-8.

The Chiefs' next home game is on Friday December, 21 against the Cincinnati Cyclones. The PA Lottery is sponsoring a scratch off ticket giveaway at that game, and Santa Clause will also be on hand for the Chiefs' Christmas celebration! Then don't forget about the Hanson Brothers appearance, sponsored by the Tribune Democrat, at the game on Saturday Decmeber, 22.
