Toronto Marlies News Release

A proud member of the American Hockey League, the Toronto Marlies announced today that they are set to begin a series of community practices in an effort to connect with minor hockey teams throughout the GTA. Commencing at 7 p.m. tomorrow evening at Agincourt Community Centre in Scarborough, a number of peewee level players will watch Greg Gilbert put his charges through a legitimate pro hockey practice. With 15 minutes remaining in the session, these same players will take to the ice and join the entire Marlies team in fun and interactive drills aimed at helping young player development.

The Marlies will leave the ice surface at 8 p.m. before participating in a team autograph-signing session which is scheduled to begin at 8:20 p.m. The program continues in three weeks when the team visits Clarkson Arena in Mississauga on Tuesday, December 12 at 7 p.m.

Toronto next sees action this Friday evening when they visit the Syracuse Crunch - AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets - for the first time this season at 7:30 p.m. The Marlies host the Crunch in the second half of the home-and-home series on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. The first 5000 fans in attendance will receive a limited edition Justin Pogge mini-bobblehead figurine. The league-leading Rochester Americans, with a record of 14-1-0, are Sunday's opponent at 4 p.m. For ticket information, visit www.torontomarlies.com or call the team's ticket line at 416-597-PUCK.
