A Quick Look Back
11.17.06 - Bridgeport 5 - Worcester 1
The Bridgeport Sound Tigers scored four unanswered goals handing Worcester (7-4-0-3) its fourth regulation loss of the season. Sound Tigers forward Robert Nilsson led the way with two goals and an assist, while goaltender Billy Thompson stopped 38 Worcester shots to earn the victory.
11.18.06 - Providence 6 - Worcester 5
The Worcester Sharks jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but could not hold on as the Providence Bruins battled back to beat the Sharks by a score of 6-5 in front of 5,119 at the DCU Center on Saturday night. Joe Pavelski and Mathieu Darche each had a goal and two assists apiece to pace the Sharks. Netminder Nolan Schaefer turned aside 23 shots in the loss.
11.19.06 - Lowell 6 - Worcester 2
Justin Papineau scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Lowell Devils to a 6-2 win over the Sharks on Sunday afternoon at Paul Tsongas Arena. Forwards Joe Pavelski and Mathieu Darche each had a goal and an assist in the loss for the Sharks.
Games Ahead
11.22.06 - Worcester @ Hartford - Hartford Civic Center
Worcester will take on the Hartford Wolf Pack for this first time this season. The Sharks are 7-6-0-3 with 17 points on the season and will look to up their record on Wednesday. The Wolf Pack are currently occupying the bottom of the Atlantic Division with a 5-10-1-0 record.
11.24.06 Worcester vs. Springfield - DCU Center
In the first game of a home-and-home series, the Springfield Falcons will visit Worcester on the day after Thanksgiving for the first time this season. The Sharks have faced the Falcons once this year in Springfield and lost by a score of 3-1. The Men in Teal will look for two points to climb up the Atlantic Division standings.
11.25.06 - Worcester @ Springfield - MassMutual Center
In the final game of a home-and-home series, the Sharks will head to the MassMutual Center in search of another two points against the Falcons. The Falcons are currently in sixth place of the Atlantic Division with an 8-9-0-0.
11.26.06 - Worcester vs. Hartford - DCU Center
In the second meeting of the week between these two teams, the Sharks will take on the Wolf Pack in front of their home crowd at the DCU Center. The game is their first Sunday "Early Bird Special" of the season at home with a 4:00 p.m. start time.
Shark of the Week...
Despite three losses this weekend, Sharks rookie forward Joe Pavelski continues to pour on the point production. In the three games, Pavelski had five points (2+3=5) and still leads all rookies in the American Hockey League with 26 points (8+18=26). The crafty pivot also has a plus-nine player rating. Pavelski is averaging 1.62 points per game.
Keeping out of Trouble...
Sharks forward Grant Stevenson has played in 15 games this season and only has six minutes in penalties. Stevenson is playing strong two-way hockey with a plus-nine player rating to his credit as well. The Spruce Grove, Alberta native currently has 15 points (4+11=15).
Offensive Defenseman...
Sharks defenseman Mathieu Biron leads all defenseman in the league with 16 points (3+13=16) in 16 games played this season. The stellar defenseman also holds a plus-three rating and is averaging a point per game.
Community Corner...
The Sharks next home game will be Friday night with a 7:00 p.m. meeting against the Springfield Falcons. Bay State Financial Services will be hosting a toy drive that night to support local children. Every fan in attendance is encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to the game. Each person who brings a toy will receive a ticket to the game on Tuesday, December 26 against the Hartford Wolf Pack.
On Sunday afternoon, the Sharks host Hartford for a 4:00 p.m. "Early Bird Special" as Bob's Stores and the Telegram & Gazette are partnering on a foam puck giveaway to the first 3,000 fans. Bob's Stores MVP Card members can receive an $8 ticket to the game with their card at the DCU Center Box Office.
