Binghamton Senators News Release

LAST WEEK: The Senators (4-11-0-2, 10 pts.) were 1-2 last week, posting their first shutout victory of the season on Wednesday night against Albany.

WEDNESAY, NOVEMBER 15th vs. ALBANY (4-0 W):

Goalie KELLY GUARD made a triumphant return to Binghamton after spending four games with Ottawa as Martin Gerber's back-up. The 23-year-old collected 42 saves in route to his first shutout victory of the season. Veteran winger JEFF HEEREMA gave Binghamton the early 1-0 lead with his ninth marker of the season. With the Senators on the penalty kill, HEEREMA took the pass from JOSH HENNESSY and smashed it of the chest of Albany goalie Justin Peters. The loose puck bounced straight back into HEEREMA'S possession, as he faked left then snapped it past Peters glove. GRANT POTULNY deflected a SERGE PAYER shot right past Peters to give the Senators a two goal advantage late in the second period. Goalie KELLY GUARD stopped 14 Albany shots in the middle stanza. Binghamton struck again at 7:49 of the third period, as JOSH HENNESSY snapped a wrist shot past Peter's outstretched arm. TOMAS MALEC added his second assist of the night on the marker. The Senators added a power-play marker in the final minutes, as rookie winger CHANSE FITZPATRICK netted his first AHL marker to give Binghamton a 4-0 victory over Albany. JEFF HEEREMA and RYAN VESCE assisted on the goal. The helper was the 150th AHL assist for HEEREMA. The Senators defense was perfect on the penalty kill, going eight for eight on the night. Four minutes later VESCE struck on the power play, blasting a one-timer into the back of the net to give Binghamton a two-goal advantage. HEEREMA added his third assist of the night on the power-play goal. Norfolk came right back, as Carl Corazinni slipped one under the glove of KELLY GUARD for his second tally of the afternoon. Defenseman ANDY HEDLUND buried a slap shot past Caron to once again give Binghamton a two-goal advantage. HEEREMA added his fourth and final assist of the night on HEDLUND'S first marker of the year.
