Amerks play four games in five nights

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans extended their current winning streak to seven games with a 4-3 OT-win over the Manitoba Moose on Friday and an 8-0 thumping of the Springfield Falcons on Saturday. The wins were also the Amerks' eighth and ninth straight at home, as they remained unbeaten at The Blue Cross Arena this season.

This week, the Milwaukee Admirals sail into Rochester on Wednesday, November 22nd on "College Student Discount Night" at The Blue Cross Arena. Any student showing their college ID at the box office can purchase a $15.00 ticket for $8.00. The 7:05 p.m. contest will be broadcast on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks.

Rochester ends its homestand on Friday, November 24th with a 7:35 p.m. game against the Iowa Stars. The game is also a "College Student Discount Night." Any student showing their college ID at the box office can purchase a $15.00 ticket for $8.00. The Amerks swept the two-game series against the Stars last season. The game is only the second visit to Rochester for the affiliate of the Dallas Stars. The contest will be broadcast on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks. The game will also air on Time Warner Cable Channel 98 on Friday, November 24th at midnight and on Saturday, November 25th at 3:00 p.m.

Following their "Black Friday" contest with Iowa, the Amerks will embark on a six-game trip that will begin on November 25th with a North Division showdown against the Hamilton Bulldogs at Copps Coliseum. The meeting will be the first of 10 scheduled meetings between the two teams this season. The Amerks own a 50-38-8 all-time record against Hamilton. The 7:00 p.m. contest will be broadcast on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks.

From Hamilton, the Amerks will head up The Queen Elizabeth Way to Toronto where they will take on the Marlies at The Ricoh Coliseum on Sunday, November 26th. The two teams last met in Toronto on October 21st. Rochester came away with a 3-1 victory thanks to a 54-save performance by Adam Dennis. The Amerks own a 5-4-0 all-time record against the Toronto Maple Leafs' AHL affiliate. The 4:00 p.m. contest will be broadcast on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks.

The Amerks will finish up their six-game trip with two-game sets against the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Manitoba Moose. Rochester will face the Griffins on Friday, December 1st and Saturday, December 2nd at The Van Andel Arena. In their last meeting on October 25th in Grand Rapids, Clarke MacArthur netted the game-winner with 11 seconds remaining in regulation to give Rochester a 4-3 win. Drew Larman added two goals, Mark Mancari contributed a goal and two assists and Dennis stopped 32 of 35 Griffins shots to give Rochester their seventh win of the season.

Player Moves

Amerks General Manager Jody Gage announced today that the Florida Panthers have sent left wing Rostislav Olesz to the Amerks. The move follows the promotion of left wingers Daniel Paille and David Booth to the National Hockey League.

Olesz has played in 21 games with the Panthers this season and has one goal and five assists. Last season he registered eight goals and 13 assists in 59 games with Florida. He also represented the Czech Republic in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino where he earned a bronze medal. The 21-year-old forward from Bilovec, Czech Republic, was the Panthers' first-round selection (seventh overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Paille heads to Buffalo for the first time this season. In 15 games with Rochester, he has three goals and 10 assists. He also has a five-game point streak (2+5). The third-year pro spent 14 games with the Sabres last season and recorded one goal and two assists. He was the Buffalo Sabres' first-round selection (20th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Booth is on his first recall to the NHL after collecting two goals and six assists in 14 games with the Amerks. The rookie spent the last four seasons with Michigan State. He was the Florida Panthers' second-round selection (53rd overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Cunneyworth Approaching 500 Games, 250 Wins Behind Amerk Bench

Randy Cunneyworth is quickly approaching the 500 game and 250 win milestones as Amerk head coach. In his seven seasons behind the Amerk bench, Cunneyworth has coached 495 games and has 248 wins. He is currently third in wins behind Joe Crozier who coached the team to 260 wins and three Calder Cup Championships during his five complete seasons at the helm from 1963-1968, and brief interim stints during the 1983-84 and 1987-88 seasons. John Van Boxmeer leads all Amerk coaches with 333 wins. Van Boxmeer coached Rochester from 1984-90 and 1992-95, and led the Amerks to a Calder Cup Championship during the 1986-87 season.

Upcoming Player Appearances

The Rochester Americans and the Monroe County Libraries are again partnering to provide the "Reading Power Play," which teams Amerk players with local public librarians in support of reading.

Tonight, Drew Larman will be stopping by the Charlotte Library (3615 Lake Ave.) at 7:00 p.m. At the appearance, Larman will read to children and hold an autograph session.

During the 2006-07 hockey season, Amerk players will continue to visit participating libraries to read to youth, talk about the importance of reading, and give a hockey demonstration. Each appearance also features a raffle for Amerk memorabilia and an autograph session by the visiting player and The Moose.
