Bridgeport Sound Tigers center Robert Nilsson was named the CCM Vector/ AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 19. Nilsson scored four goals and had three assists for seven points in three games to help the Sound Tigers go 2-0-0-1 during the week.

Nilsson earned a whopping six points over the weekend (four goals and two assists) as the Sound Tigers topped Worcester 5-1 on Friday and edged Hershey 4-3 in overtime on Saturday. Nilsson assisted Blake Comeau's overtime winner at Hershey. He also picked up an assist in a 3-2 shootout loss to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last Wednesday.

In recognition of his achievement, Nilsson will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Sound Tigers home game.

The 21-year-old forward has seven goals and 10 assists to lead the Sound Tigers with 17 points in 16 games. Nilsson is in his second season with the Sound Tigers; as a rookie in 2005-06, he split time between the Sound Tigers and parent NHL team the New York Islanders.

"With a year under his belt, Robert Nilsson is showing you why he was a No. 1 draft pick by the New York Islanders," Sound Tigers President Howard Saffan said.

Nilsson, a Calgary native, was selected by the Islanders as the 15th overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Nilsson and the Sound Tigers, winners of two straight games, return to action on Friday, Nov. 24 when they host the Binghamton Senators at the Arena at Harbor Yard at 7:30 p.m.
