Montreal sends Kostitsyn back to Hamilton

Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that right-winger Andrei Kostitsyn has been reassigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.

Kostitsyn, 21, was recalled by Montreal on Sunday, November 12th, 2006 and appeared in four games going scoreless with eight shots on goal.

Prior to his recall, Kostitsyn registered at least one point in three consecutive contests with Hamilton (1-4-5), and has collected a total of eight points (1-7-8) with the Bulldogs in 11 games this season. The 6'0'', 205-pound native of Novopolotsk, Belarus has also taken 28 shots on goal, posted a plus/minus rating of +5 and registered 13 penalty minutes.

In operation since 1936, the American Hockey League is the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. Over 80 percent of NHL players are AHL graduates, and more than 350 AHL players were recalled to the NHL during the 2005-2006 season alone.

The Hamilton Bulldogs' next game is on Tuesday, November 20th at 7:30 p.m. versus their North Division rival the Manitoba Moose.
