MacLean and Viitanen Return From Bears…Borzecki Placed on IR

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced that right wing Cail MacLean and defenseman Mikko Viitanen have been assigned to Reading by the Hershey Bears (AHL). In addition, defenseman Adam Borzecki has been placed on the seven-day injured list.

MacLean returns to Reading after a weekend recall to Hershey. In two games over the weekend the Royals captain was held scoreless with the Bears. In total, MacLean has appeared in 12 games with Hershey has no points and two penalty minutes. The Nova Scotia native has appeared in 11 games with Reading this year and has two goals and five points.

Colorado Avalanche contracted defenseman Mikko Viitanen joins the Royals after a weekend recall to Hershey as well. Viitanen appeared in two games over the weekend but registered no points. He has appeared in 21 games with Hershey and posted six penalty minutes. The Finnish-born defenseman has skated in five contests with Reading but has been held scoreless while posting 11 penalty minutes.

Defenseman Adam Borzecki joins centerman Graig Mischler on the seven-day injured list. Borzecki has played in 16 games with Reading this year and has one assist and 15 penalty minutes. Currently, he ranks third on the team with a plus-9 plus/minus rating. Borzecki has also appeared in six games with the Royals primary AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs. He did not score but posted a plus-3 plus/minus rating and posted 10 minutes in penalties.

The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals. The Royals and the City of Reading are proud to be hosting the 13th annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition presented by Coors Light on January 25 and 26.
