December 31, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release

A stirring 5-4 come-from-behind shootout victory snaps a four-game losing streak for the Augusta Lynx as they rallied past the South Carolina Stingrays on New Year's Eve at the North Charleston Coliseum.

The Lynx fell behind 3-0 in the first period on goals by Ty Morris, Evan Schwabe, and Cam McCaffrey on 12 first period shots. But rather than getting down, the Lynx fought back.

Augusta responded in the second by rallying to score twice and make it a 3-2 game after 40 minutes of play. Sam Ftorek found the net at 4:03 from Phil Cole and Paul Kelly to get the Lynx on the scoreboard, while Martin Lapointe snuck down the slot later in the second to score his eighth of the season from BJ Gaustad and Nicolas Corbeil at 16:02 to bring Augusta within a goal.

South Carolina did their best to spoil Augusta's comeback intentions, going back up by two goals at 2:06 on McCaffrey's second goal of the night from Schwabe and Craig Olynick to make it a 4-2 game, but the Lynx pressed on.

Starting with a power play goal from Corbeil at 7:06 and capped with Brian Passmore's extra-effort game-tying goal at 18:41, the Lynx took the momentum back for the remainder of the third period and sent the game to overtime.

With no scoring through OT, the two teams would head to a shootout, where the Lynx finally earned the win in round seven when Ryan Lang rang the puck in off the goal post behind Davis Parley, while Mike Wall stoned Ryan Finnerty for the 5-4 victory.

Wall finished the game with 22 saves through overtime and 5-of-7 in the shootout, while Parley stopped 37 shots and turned aside 4-of-7 in earning the single point. Augusta finished 0-for-7 on the power play while South Carolina went 0-for-3.

The Lynx are back in action this Monday night against the Charlotte Checkers on the road at 7:05 pm. Augusta's next home game is Friday, January 6th to kick off Country and Western Weekend at 7:05 pm against the Checkers. Tickets are on sale now by calling the Lynx office at (706) 724-4ICE, all TicketMaster locations, and on line at www.TicketMaster.com.
