Chiefs comeback win

December 31, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Randy Rowe returned to the Chiefs line-up Friday in Trenton. Rowe returned in a big way, Saturday in Johnstown, picking up the hat trick, leading the Chiefs to a come-from-behind, 7-4 win over the Columbia Inferno.

The Johnstown Chiefs had just one comeback win this season and were playing without their top two centers for the 2nd straight game. Randy Rowe got the scoring under way just 1:40 into the game, ripping a shot from just inside the blue line over Inferno goalie, Chris Houle.

The Chiefs and Inferno swapped goals in the 2nd period. The Chiefs streaked out to a 3-1 lead on goals by Adam Henrich and Randy Rowe, but the Inferno caught fire, scoring three times in the 2nd for a 4-3 lead.

Down by one entering the 3rd period, the Chiefs rallied with four unanswered goals, culminating with Adam Henrich's empty netter with 1:02 to go. Joe Tallari tied the game on a power-play 1:30 into the third period. Tallari buried a Doug Andress rebound over a sprawled Houle.

Dmitri Tarabrin put the Chiefs ahead for good with a break-away goal at 10:01, then Randy Rowe picked the Chiefs first hat trick of the season by putting home a Tyler Kindle rebound.

Jonathan Boutin's home scoreless string was snapped at 201:04 on a goal by Chanse Fitzpartick. Boutin stopped 31 of 35 for his 6th win of the year. Boutin was named to the ECHL All-Star game on Friday.

The Chiefs are just one game under .500, at 11-12-7. The Chiefs will be back in action, at home next Friday and Saturday. Tickets are on-sale at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-SlapShot.
