Lynx Battle Grrrowl in Greenville Tonight
December 28, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
Tonight the Augusta Lynx will travel to Greenville to face off against the Grrrowl at 7:05 pm, the second meeting this year between the two clubs. Greenville won the only other contest 3-1 back on December 5th at the BI-LO Center.
Coming off a 5-4 win in Charlotte over the Checkers on Sunday, the Lynx look to continue the momentum tonight against the Grrrowl. Todd Bennett's goal and three assists led the team in scoring that game, with Ken Magowan recording a pair of goals as well. Lawne Snyder's first game off the IR also proved to help out, as he netted the game winner in the third period.
"It's nice to have that win in there, to get things behind us," said Lynx head coach and director of hockey operations Stan Drulia. "There's no reason why we can't go on a little run ourselves now."
Greenville, meanwhile, comes into the contest boasting the ECHL's leading scorer in Carl Mallette, who has 15 goals and 31 points in 26 games, and is leading a Grrrowl squad that has won their last three in a row and gone 6-2-2 in their last ten games. Goaltenders Mike Brodeur and Mike Morrison both have goals against averages under 2.65 and save percentages over the 92% mark. Center Martin St. Pierre is among league leaders in assists with 20 so far. But the club has also had a rough time at home, recording a 5-7-0 mark at the BI-LO Center so far.
Pre-game show kicks off at 6:35 pm with the voice of the Lynx, Tom Callahan on NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630. Games are also broadcast on the internet at www.augustalynx.com or at www.sportsjuice.com. The Lynx's next home game will be Thursday night at 7:05 pm against the South Carolina Stingrays. It's Scooby Doo night! Bring the kids for giveaways and more all night long with Scooby.
