Trenton, NJ â The Dayton Bombers dropped a 4-3 decision to the Trenton Titans in front of 4,606 at Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey Tuesday night.
With Bombers defenseman Bryan Nathe in the penalty box for holding, the Titans opened the scoring when Scott Bertoli beat Mike Ayers with a powerplay goal at 8:32 of the first period. Dayton tied the game, 1-1, when MIKE SCHUTTE buried a rebound following a shot from Ben Knopp. Then, with 4:44 remaining in the opening frame, Rick Kowalsky pulled the puck off the wall and fed Brent Robinson for his 8th goal of the season. The Titans led, 2-1, after 20 minutes.
The only goal in the second period was a powerplay goal from JUSTIN KINNUNEN that tied the game, 2-2, at the 6:36 mark. The Bombers were unsuccessful during a 5-on-3 powerplay that lasted 38 seconds, and the teams were tied after 40 minutes.
In period three, B.J. Abel took a shot from the point that missed the net, and Matt Zultek was there to finish the play and give Trenton a 3-2 lead. The Titans made it 4-2 on a goal from Phil Lewandowski at 11:59. The Bombers made it 4-3 when SCOTT CAMERON buried his 4th goal of the season with 8.9 seconds left, but it was too little, too late as the Titans held on for a 4-3 win.
