
Lynx battle back to down Checkers, 6-3

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Augusta Lynx scored the final four goals of the game en route to a 6-3 win over the Charlotte Checkers Monday night in front of 3,455 fans at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. Nicolas Corbeil had two goals and two assists to lead the Lynx over the Checkers.
Augusta jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period as Anthony Battaglia and B.J. Gustad put the Lynx on top early. The Checkers bounced back from the two-goal deficit in the second period with goals from Steve MacIntyre, Kris MacPhee and Daniel Sparre in the second period to give Charlotte a 3-2 lead. Augusta answered back with two goals to close out the second period as Corbeil and B.J. Gustad scored.
Augusta scored the only goals of the third period as Corbeil and Brian Passmore capped off the scoring on the night.
The Checkers outshot the Lynx 38 to 33 but failed to score on seven power plays while Augusta scored on 2-of-6 chances.
Jason Wolfe picked up the win for Augusta making 35 saves while Chris Holt took the loss making 27 saves.
Charlotte drops to 29-30-5 (63 points) on the season while Augusta improves to 26-30-6 (58 points).
