Chiefs Sign Goaltender

Johnstown, PA (March 20, 2006) - The Johnstown Chiefs have signed goaltender Josh Disher, of the OHL's Erie Otters, to a contract, Chiefs General Manager Toby O'Brien announced.

Disher, 20, was the New Jersey Devils sixth round choice in 2004. The 6-foot, 166 pound netminder is the career leader in most Otter goalie statistics, including wins (72), games played (168) and longest scoreless streak (246:50).

Disher, a native of Oakville, Ontario, spent three years with the Otters, compiling a record of 72-66-25. He was their Outstanding Playoff Performer in 2004-05, when he shared the team MVP and Dedication awards. In 2003-04, Disher won the Otters Player of the Year award.

The Johnstown Chiefs 2005-06 season presented by The First National Bank of Pennsylvania resumes Wednesday in Johnstown, as the Chiefs host the Wheeling Nailers. The Chiefs trail the Nailers by eight points in the North division.
