Alaska Aces News Release

LAS VEGAS - The Alaska Aces have added a pair of UAA products, goaltender John DeCaro and forward Justin Johnson, to their roster during a 12-day, six-game road trip through Las Vegas and Salt Lake City.

DeCaro went 7-17-3 with two shutouts in 36 appearances for the University of Alaska-Anchorage over two seasons following his transfer from Ferris State (CCHA). UAA concluded its season March 11 with a 6-2 loss at Minnesota in the first round of the WCHA playoffs. The 23-year-old DeCaro, a Washington state native, set a school record with 57 saves in a win over the Golden Gophers last season and is the only goaltender in the history of the UAA program to record more than 50 saves in back-to-back games.

Johnson was born in Seattle but grew up in Anchorage and attended East High School before spending a year in the USHL and four seasons at UAA, where he scored 13 goals and assisted on 22 others in 143 games. The six-foot, 220-pounder scored the game-winning goal in UAA's first ever victory in the WCHA playoffs, March 12, 2004. With Joe Talbot likely to miss this week's games after being injured Saturday, Johnson should make his professional debut tomorrow against Las Vegas.

The Aces (49-9-5) practiced at Orleans Arena today and meet the Wranglers tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. AST in the finale of their three-game series. Mike Scott scored twice in a 5-1 Aces victory in the opener Friday, while Matt Underhill matched his season-high with 37 saves to salvage a point in Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss.

The Aces travel overnight to Utah following Tuesday's game against the Wranglers and finish up their extended road trip with two games at the ‘E' Center Wednesday and Friday at 5:00 p.m. AST. All Alaska Aces games are broadcast live on KFQD AM 750 and at www.alaskaaces.com, where all home games and selected road contests also are available on a pay-per-view basis, courtesy of B2 Networks.
