Louisiana IceGators News Release

Lafayette, LA – The Louisiana IceGators have played the fewest games of any team in the ECHL but continue to play winning hockey. Last week a home and home sweep of the Mississippi Sea Wolves gave Todd Gordon's club a 4-1-1 record, 9 points and a tie for 4th place in the South division of the American Conference.

Last Week

Playing back to back games against the Sea Wolves proved to be the opportunity for some of the IceGators young stars to strut their stuff. On Friday night, the "Kid" line of Alex Materukhin, David Bararuk and Pascal Pelletier provided 4 of the Gators 6 goals in a 6-2 win on "Reunion Night". Pelletier getting his first two professional scores, Bararuk with the team's first short handed goal of the year and Materukhin getting the "Gordie Howe Hat Trick" with a goal, two assists and a fight against the Sea Wolves' Chris Cava. Saturday Night in Biloxi, Rookie netminder Nathan Marsters stole the show. Marsters had not played competitively since starting in net for the RPI Engineers last March. In his first game as a pro, Marsters stopped 43 of 44 shots in 65 minutes of hockey and stopped all 4 tries in the shootout to give the Gators a 2-1 win and a sweep of the weekend series against their arch rivals.
