Gulls drop another in Bakersfield, big news coming
November 15, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
San Diego Gulls News Release
SAN DIEGO ââ The San Diego Gulls played only one game last week, a loss to the Bakersfield Condors. It was their second straight loss to the West Division leaders and dropped them into a fifth-place tie. But the Gulls will now play 10 of their next 11 games at the Sports Arena, where they haven't lost yet this season. They're also working on a deal that could bring an NHL veteran to the team.
WEEK IN REVIEW:
Nov. 13 @ Bakersfield:
Bakersfield scored three power-play goals and former Gulls Ashlee Langdone and Kevin St. Jacques each chipped in with two points en route to a 4-1 win over the Gulls. It was a 1-1 game before Langdone netted what proved to be the game-winner 7:41 into the second period. Brad Mehalko made it 3-1 later in the second and added an empty-netter to seal it.
PLAYER NOTES:
Darren Clark is now riding a career-high eight-game point streak, which is second longest in the ECHL. He's tied for seventh overall in the league with 12 points... Trevor Koenig is third in the league with 229 saves... Brian Gornick was placed on the 7-day injured list with a knee injury... Mathieu Chouinard remains on the injured list with a sore hip... Sylvain Deschatelets is about a week away from returning to the lineup. He's recovering from off-season wrist surgery...
TEAM NOTES:
San Diego is 3-0-0 at home and 1-4-1 on the road... The Gulls have scored 22 goals in their four wins, but just five goals in their five losses (which includes one shootout loss)... San Diego is giving up an average of 35.44 shots per game, fifth most in the ECHL... Of the Gulls' next 11 games, 10 are at home...
The Gulls and Condors meet again Wednesday at the Sports Arena, with game time set for 7:05 p.m. It will be the second "Wacky Wednesday" of the season and the first "Pooch Party." THAT MEANS ALL FANS IN ATTENDANCE ARE INVITED TO BRING THEIR DOG TO THE GAME! San Diego goes back on the road to face the Fresno Falcons Saturday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. before opening a nine-game homestand.
All games can be heard live on KLSD 1360AM and www.sandiegogulls.com with Chris Ello calling the play-by-play.
