Three down, two to go on five-game road trip

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12th at TRENTON TITANS

The Dayton Bombers opened a 5-game, 8-day road trip with a 4-3 shootout win over the previously unbeaten Trenton Titans in front of 4,911 at Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey Friday night. Rookie forward TYLER KOLARIK buried a rebound past Titans goaltender Andrew Allen just :15 seconds into the game and the Bombers led, 1-0. TYLER SLOAN scored a powerplay goal that gave Dayton a 2-goal lead. Then, Phil Lewanndowski notched his fourth goal of the season at 13:49, and the Bombers led, 2-1, after twenty minutes. There was no scoring in the second period. B.J. Abel tied the game, 2-2, in the third period. MICHAEL TESSIER gave Dayton a 3-2 lead at 8:04 of the third period. But with Kolarik in the penalty box and Titans goaltender Andrew Allen pulled for an extra skater, Rick Kowalsky tied the game, 3-3, with only :15 seconds remaining in regulation. There was no scoring in overtime and SCOTT CAMERON scored the only goal in the shootout as ANDREW PENNER stopped all five Trenton shooters and the Bombers won, 4-3.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 13th at READING ROYALS

In game two of this road trip, the Bombers suffered a 3-0 loss to the Reading Royals in front of 6,709 at the Sovereign Center in Reading, PA. John Francisco opened the scoring with his team-leading fourth goal of the season at 10:58 of the first period, and the Royals never looked back. Third period goals from Ryan Kinasewich (6:41) and Craig Mischler (18:02) propelled the Royals to their fourth straight win, 3-0. The Bombers allowed a season-high 52 shots on goal, while Reading goaltender Cody Rudkowski recorded the 14-save shutout victory. MIKE AYERS was spectacular in goal, but the rookie goaltender suffered the loss for Dayton.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 14th at ATLANTIC CITY BOARDWALK BULLIES

Game three of this trip saw the Bombers drop a 2-0 decision in front of 1,426 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. After a scoreless first period, Brett Nowak opened the scoring with a powerplay goal at 4:26 of the second period, and AC led 1-0 after 40 minutes. Scott Horvath added an insurance goal at 8:51 of period three, and the bombers lose a 2-0 game. It was the second consecutive time Dayton was shutout on n this trip. The Bullies outshot the Bombers, 30-17, as ANDREW PENNER suffered the loss, and Jake Moreland picked up the victory.

This trip continues with game four Tuesday night in Atlantic City, NJ at 7:05 PM.
