Las Vegas Rookies Johner and Huxley Set New Team Records

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers posted a 2-1-0 record this past week starting with a 4-3 loss in Long Beach on Wednesday night. Friday, Las Vegas ended a seven-game winless streak and a six-game losing steak, when they defeated Victoria a 4-3. Saturday night, Las Vegas defeated Victoria for the second straight game, with a 4-3 win.

This week Las Vegas will continue their eight-game road trip by staying in Victoria for a 7:00 pm face-off against the Salmon Kings. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, the Wranglers will play at 7:10 pm in Boise against the Idaho Steelheads. Las Vegas returns home on Friday, March 11th against San Diego at 7:05 pm.

Long Beach, CA – The Las Vegas Wranglers were defeated by the Long Beach Ice Dogs 4-3 at the Long Beach Arena on Wednesday night. Ice Dogs center Evan Cheverie scored twice and assisted on another to lead

Long Bach over Las Vegas. Rookie forward Marco Rosa added a goal and an assists as the Ice Dogs improved to 6-0-1 against Las Vegas this year. The loss extended the Wranglers current winless streak to 0-6-1, with the six losses coming consecutively. Both are new team records. Defenseman Ryan Gaucher, along with centers Jeff Attard and Jason Bonsignore, each scored for the Wranglers.

Las Vegas 4 at Victoria 3

Victoria, BC – The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Victoria Salmon Kings 4-3 at the Bear Mountain Arena on Friday night. Winger Shawn Limpright scored the game-winning goal with 32 seconds remaining, and added two assists, as Las Vegas snapped a seven-game winless streak. Las Vegas forwards Jeff Attard and Dustin Johner each had two assists in the Wranglers first win since January 31st. Forwards Matt Schmidt and Darren Lynch also scored as Las Vegas improved to 5-0-0 against Victoria.

Saturday, February 20th

Las Vegas 4 at Victoria 3

Victoria, BC – The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Victoria Salmon Kings 4-3 at the Bear Mountain Arena on Saturday night. Dustin Johner scored twice for Las Vegas, including his team-record-breaking 22nd goal of the season. Forwards Chris Stanley and Dan Tudin also scored as the Wranglers won their sixth in a row over Victoria. Adam Huxley set a new team record for penalty minutes in a season with 225 and the Wranglers still have 20 games remaining on the season. Goalie Marc Magliarddit made 17 saves as Las Vegas won back-to-back games for the first time since January 29th and January 31st.

This Week's Opponents-

Victoria Salmon Kings – (10-39-5, 25 Points) – The Wranglers last four wins have come against Victoria. The Salmon Kings are winless in their last three games and 2-8-0 in their last 10 games played. Victoria is 7-21-2 at home this season. Right wing Ryan Wade leads the team in scoring with 37 points (12G-25A). Victoria leads the ECHL with 1,537 penalty minutes and an average of 28.50 minutes per game. Victoria will be without defensemen Dale Purinton and Jim Gattoliat, who will be serving a suspension for participating in a bench-clearing brawl against Fresno on Wednesday, February 16th.

Idaho Steelheads (28-20-3, 59 Points) – The Steelheads have won seven straight games heading into Sunday's game at San Diego. Idaho is 5-1-0 against Las Vegas this year. Idaho is seven points out of the fourth and final playoff spot in the west division. The Steelheads are 8-2-0 in their last 10 games played and 15-11-1 at home this year. Las Vegas is 11-11-3 heading into Monday night's game against Victoria. Idaho features the ECHL All-Star Game MVP in goalie Frank Doyle. Doyle is 21-11-2 with a 2.15 goals against average and a .920 save percentage. The Steelheads are led in scoring by Bobby Russell's 17 goals and 20 assists for 37 points in 51 games played. Winger Lance Galbraith has eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points in 27 games played. The feisty winger also also second on the Steelheads with 169 penalty minutes. Former Wrangler Billy Tibbetts will face Las Vegas for the first time this year.
