Charlotte Knights News Release
(NORFOLK, VA) - Center fielder Clint Frazier drove home four runs to help lead the Charlotte Knights to a thrilling 11-7 win in game two of a doubleheader against the Norfolk Tides on Wednesday night from Harbor Park in Norfolk, VA. The Knights dropped the first game of the twin bill by a score of 4-0.
Frazier had a solid offensive showing in game two of the doubleheader on Wednesday. The Charlotte outfielder came up big in his team's six-run fourth inning with a bases-clearing triple. The Knights, who trailed the Tides by a score of 5-0, took a 6-5 lead thanks to that big six-run inning. The Charlotte offense scored eight unanswered runs - all over a two-inning stretch (4th and 5th inning).
In the sixth inning, the Knights tacked on three more runs to make it an 11-6 lead at that point. Frazier chipped in with an RBI double in the top of the sixth inning for his fourth RBI of the game. Charlotte catcher Adam Hackenberg added an RBI double in the sixth, his third double in three games with the Knights since being promoted from Double-A Birmingham. Third baseman Lenyn Sosa continued his hot hitting in game two. Sosa had two hits and two RBI in Charlotte's game two win.
LHP Andrew Perez (2-0, 10.13) earned the game two victory out of the bullpen. Perez allowed just one run on one hit over two innings. He had four strikeouts on the night. RHP Alex Colomé allowed a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but held on to close out the game for Charlotte's fifth win of the second half.
Outfielder Víctor Reyes recorded Charlotte's only hit in game one of Wednesday's doubleheader. In game two, Reyes recorded three hits and added his team-high 70th RBI of the season. Reyes is now hitting a team-high .306 on the year with the Knights.
The Knights will continue the seven-game series against the Norfolk Tides (Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) on Thursday. The "Voice of the Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action on www.CharlotteKnights.com. First pitch on Thursday afternoon is set for 12:05 p.m. from Harbor Park.
