August 2, 2023 - International League (IL)
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release
MOOSIC, PA - The New York Yankees have announced that pitcher Jonathan Loáisiga has had his MLB Rehab Assignment transferred to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and is scheduled to pitch this evening at PNC Field. The RailRiders host the Rochester Red Wings with a first pitch slated for 6:35 P.M.
Loáisiga was placed on the 15-Day Injured List retroactive to April 6 with a right elbow inflammation. The Yankees transferred him to the 60-Day IL on May 11. He began his rehab assignment on July 30 with the Tampa Tarpons. He pitched two innings of work in one appearance. Loáisiga threw just 18 pitches, 15 for strikes.
He was initially acquired by New York on February 9, 2016 as a free agent. He played one season prior in the San Francisco Giants system. This season, Loáisiga pitched in three games in the big leagues out of the bullpen. In three and a third innings he allowed one run on two hits. The righty didn't issue a walk and recorded one strikeout.
After making Major League debut on June 15, 2018, Loáisiga has played parts of six seasons in New York. He has totaled 201.1 innings for a 3.53 earned run average. Along with 18 wins, he has notched seven saves and 199 strikeouts.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Rochester continue their six-game set at PNC Field this evening. For tickets to tonight's game or for 2023 promotional information, visit www.swbrailriders.com.
