Charlotte Knights News Release

(LAWRENCEVILLE, GA) - Right fielder Micker Adolfo launched a big three-run home run and the Charlotte Knights used a five-run seventh inning to propel past the Gwinnett Stripers by a score of 9-6 on Wednesday night in game two of a six-game series from Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA. The win evened up the series, 1-1.

Adolfo continued his hot hitting with his second home run of the 2022 season. His three-run blast tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the fourth inning on Wednesday. Over his last six games, the 25-year-old slugger has recorded nine hits, two home runs and eight RBIs.

While Adolfo has been heating up, second baseman Yolbert Sánchez has also continued to hit the ball well since his promotion from Double-A Birmingham on April 26. Appearing in his eighth career Triple-A game on Wednesday, Sánchez extended his hit streak to eight consecutive games. The 25-year-old Cuban native went 2-for-5 with two RBIs on the night. His two-run single in the five-run seventh inning helped the Knights get past the Stripers. Designated hitter Carlos Pérez had two hits and two RBIs to chip in on Wednesday.

RHP Johnny Cueto made his third start of the season with the Knights and did not factor in Wednesday's decision. The two-time National League All-Star allowed four runs on six hits over 3.2 innings pitched. He gave up all four of his runs in the second inning. The inning was highlighted by a three-run home run off the bat of Chadwick Tromp.

Chicago White Sox RHP Joe Kelly made his second rehab appearances with the Knights and was sharp over a scoreless inning. Kelly struck-out two batters and threw 19 pitches (10 for strikes). RHP Kyle Crick, who joined the Knights on Tuesday from the Chicago White Sox, earned the win out of the bullpen. Crick (1-0, 0.00) tossed a scoreless sixth inning.

The Knights will continue the series against the Gwinnett Stripers from Coolray Field on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. All six games in the series can be heard live on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and www.CharlotteKnights.com. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action.
