
Knights Drop Both Games on Friday to Clippers

(COLUMBUS, OH) - The Charlotte Knights dropped both games of Friday's doubleheader against the Columbus Clippers from Huntington Park in Columbus, OH. Charlotte lost game one by a score of 4-0 and lost game two by a score of 17-0. The Knights recorded five hits in the first game and five in the second game.
LHP John Parke started game one and was sharp in the first inning but exited before starting the second inning. LHP Sammy Peralta (0-1, 5.40) came on in relief and allowed three runs on four hits over three innings. Peralta, who also fanned two batters, was saddled with the game one loss. Second baseman Lenyn Sosa reached base twice in game one, drawing a walk and recording a single.
RHP A.J. Alexy (0-1, 27.00) started game two for the Knights and was charged with the loss after he allowed four runs and seven walks over just 1.1 innings pitched. Relievers Andrew Perez (five runs allowed) and J.B. Olson (five runs allowed) combined to allow 10 runs over the next 2.1 innings pitched. Charlotte infielder Laz Rivera also pitched in game two. He allowed three runs on four hits over 1.1 innings pitched.
Sosa reached base three times in game two. The 23-year-old walked twice and had one of Charlotte's five hits in the game. Shortstop Erik González had a team-high two hits in the game.
Earlier in the day, RHP Jesse Scholtens was promoted to the Chicago White Sox. Scholtens, who was supposed to start game one of Friday's doubleheader, became the second player this season to earn a promotion to Chicago. Infielder Jake Burger was recalled on Wednesday.
The Knights will continue the six-game road series against the Columbus Clippers (Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians) from Huntington Park on Saturday afternoon. First pitch of game five in the series on Saturday is set for 4:15 p.m. Fans can listen to the game live on www.CharlotteKnights.com.
