Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have claimed center Yanick Lehoux off waivers from the Phoenix Coyotes and have assigned him to Manchester, Kings President of Hockey Operations/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today. Lehoux, 23, had previously been with the Kings organization before being claimed off waivers by Phoenix on November 5. He did not participate in the Kings' training camp in September and then, as a restricted free agent, signed a contract with the Kings on November 3. As a three-year pro, Lehoux was subject to waivers and was claimed by Phoenix two days later.

Lehoux made his NHL debut this month with the Coyotes and played in a total of three games where he recorded one point (a goal) and two penalty minutes. In addition, he played in five games with Phoenix's American Hockey League affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage, where he recorded one point (a goal) and two penalty minutes. Earlier this season, Lehoux had also signed with Moscow Dynamo of the Russian Elite League, and he played for Servette Geneve and Basel of the Swiss National League.

Originally selected by the Kings in the third-round (86th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-1, 170-pound native of Montreal, Quebec, played the 2004-05 season with the Monarchs, where in 38 games he recorded 54 points (23-31=54) before sustaining a season-ending knee injury on January 14. At the time of the injury, Lehoux was second on the Monarchs and tied for third in the AHL in overall scoring.

A post-Thanksgiving match-up between the Monarchs and the Hartford Wolf Pack is scheduled for Friday, November 25 at 7:35 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The Monarchs will travel to play the Springfield Falcons for the third time this season on Saturday, November 26 at 7:05 p.m., before returning home to host the Providence Bruins at 4:05 p.m. on Sunday, November 27.
