Rochester hosts Wilkes-Barre/Scranton tonight

Game Notes: The Rochester Americans (11-7-0-0, 22 points) host the hottest team in the American Hockey League tonight at 7:35 p.m., as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins waddle into The Blue Cross Arena for the first time since the 2002-03 season. The Pens have been on a roll to start the season, going 16-0-2-0 in 18 games to lead the AHL with 34 points. The contest will be televised tape delayed on Saturday, November 26th at 12:30 p.m. on Time Warner Cable Channel 98. The game will be broadcast on WBER 90.5-FM and webcast on the B2 Networks. The game is also available to on-line viewers on the B2 Networks for $6.00.

Promotions: The first 5,000 fans will receive a trading card of Amerk Hall of Fame left wing Dick Gamble. Gamble played in Rochester from 1961-70 and is only one of three players to have his number retired. He is second in team history in goals (300), points (565) and games played (569). Further, the four-time AHL All-Star was instrumental in Rochester winning its first three Calder Cups (1965, 1966 and 1968).

Head-to-Head: Rochester leads the all-time series with an 8-4-6 record.

Amerks Notes: Rochester remains in third place in the North Division, one point behind second-place Manitoba. Rochester continues to lead the league in power-play percentage, converting on 27 percent of its chances (34 of 126). Rochester has won four straight at home, which includes a 7-4 win over the Binghamton Senators on Wednesday night behind four points from the AHL's leading scorer, Jason Pominville (2+2). Pominville leads the league with 18 goals and is tied for first with nine power-play goals in 17 games. Defenseman Nathan Paetsch is tied for third in the league with 15 assists.

Player Move: Goalie Michael Leighton remains with the Buffalo Sabres. In a related move, the Florida Panthers (NHL) assigned Florida Everblades (ECHL) goalie Phil Osaer (OH-sair) to Rochester. With the Everblades this season, he has a 5-1-0 record, 2.44 goals-against average and.920 save percentage. He attended Amerks training camp in 2005. In his AHL career, he has an 18-20-5 record and a 2.68 goals-against average.

All-Time Team Voting: Fan balloting for the Rochester Americans 50th Anniversary Team starting lineup has begun. Fans can choose three forwards, two defensemen and one goalie for the All-Time Team, with the results being announced in February. Voting will be conducted online at amerks.com and in the arena at the Amerks customer service table at The Blue Cross Arena during home games. Voting concludes on Wednesday, February 1st.

Penguins Notes: Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has not lost a road game since April 9, 2005 in Binghamton (5-2), winning 11 straight games away from home (two last season and nine this season). The AHL mark is 13, set by the 1995-96 Albany River Rats and the 2002-03 Hamilton Bulldogs. The Pens lead the AHL in both scoring (4.39 goals per game) and defense (1.94 goals allowed per game). However, three of the team's top four scorers are on recall by Pittsburgh. Michel Ouellet (10+19) leads the club with 29 points and Erik Christensen (9+10) and Matt Hussey (9+10) are tied for second. Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury leads the league with a 1.53 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage. His nine wins are also second in the AHL.

Next Game: On Saturday, November 26th, Rochester travels to play the Albany River Rats at the Pepsi Arena at 5:00 p.m. The game is the first of two meetings between the New York State rivals. Next Home Game: The Toronto Marlies return to Rochester for the third time this season on Sunday, November 27th. The Amerks opened their 50th Anniversary season on October 7th with an 8-5 win over the Marlies. The eight goals were the second most goals scored by Rochester in a home or season-opening game. The 13 goals also tied the largest combined goal output in an opening game. The Amerks lead the season series with a 2-1-0-0 record.
